Thomas Edward Brown, Sr., age 85, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his home.
He was born October 1, 1931, in Massillon the son of the late Alvin R. and Mary A. (Baumgardner) Brown.
He was a veteran of the Army.
Thomas retired from Timken where he was a machinist for 37 years.
Thomas is survived by children, Thomas Brown II, John Brown, Diane Brown; step-daughters, Stephanie (Randy) Close, Tammy McCauley, and Dawn Ayers; sisters, Betty Jean Mitchell, Linda Sills, and Grace Molson; grandchildren, Drew Ayers, Kristina Rohr, Shawn Stumpf, and Ashley Brown; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; companion, Carol Burnsworth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice M. (Hinkle) Brown; brothers, Alvin, Charles, and Robert Brown; sisters, Evelyn M. Brown and Bonnie Nolen; nephews, Ronnie Ross, Charles Brown; grandson, Thomas Brown III.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February, 10, 2017 at Heitger Funeral Home Massillon Chapel, 639 1st St NE, at 11am.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the funeral home from 6pm to 8pm.
Burial to follow the service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon with military honors.
