Thomas N. Friedrichsen Sr., age 83, of Massillon passed away on Sat., April 16, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born December 7, 1927 son of the late Edward and Alice (Kramer) Friedrichsen.

Tom retired from MCA Sign Company where he was a design engineer. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was an usher, Massillon K of C Council 554 3rd degree and 4th Degree Bishop Massillon Assembly, a Boy Scount Leader for Troup 3, Navarre Farm and Game Club and VFW Post 3124. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fishing trips to Canada and trapping turtles; but his greatest delight was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandshildren.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Carolyn (Spina) Friedrichsen, sons Thomas (Jane) Friedrichsen Jr. of Navarre, Phillip E. (Carla) Friedrichsen of Lawrence Twp., and David Friedrichsen of Massillon, sisters Alice (Joseph) Manhart of Massillon and Elaine (William) Casenhieser of Melbourne, Florida, grandchildren Steven and Shelly Friedrichsen, Edie Marie Friedrichsen, Jared (Caroline) Friedrichsen, Jeremy Friedrichsen, and Courtney Friedrichsen, and great-grandchildren J. T. and Alyson Friedrichsen , Victoria, James and Julia Friedrichsen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 1 P.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Miller celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at HEITGER FUNERALSERVICE - MASSILLON CHAPEL from 6 to 8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 12 Noon until 12:45 P.M.
