Thomas L. Mottice, age 68 of Jackson Twp., passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 following a brief illness. He was born November 25, 1947 in Canton, son of the late Oliver Glenn and Pauline (Cooper) Mottice. He is survived by his wife Jane (Meeting) Mottice, daughter Stephanie Mottice, son and daughter-in-law Brian and Laura Mottice and granddaughters Braelyn and Lilliana Mottice, all of Massillon; Sisters Susan (Ivan) Welch, Peggy (Vincent) Sturiale, Donna (Joseph) DeVendra and Lois (William) Henson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert A. Mottice. Tom was a Math, Physics, and Computer Science teacher at Massillon Washington High School retiring in 2007. He served in the US Army. He had received his MBA from The University of Akron and his Bachelor of Science in Education from The Ohio State University. Tom was a member of OSU Alumni Assoc; Massillon Tigers Booster Club, Sideliners, and Bench Warmers; Stark County Retired Teachers Assoc.; Past President and Treasurer of Springwood Lake Camp Club; and Moose Lodge and Sons of Herman. He was devoted football fan, not missing a game for his favorite teams. He had a love for camping, fishing, beer tours, and card playing. He was an avid traveler and made it to Alaska and throughout the United States. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 2 -4 PM and from 6-8 PM at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Edward Gretchko officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Massillon Tiger Booster Club, PO Box 19, Massillon, Ohio 44648 or OSU James Cancer Center, Pelotonia, 351 W. Nationwide Blvd, Columbus, Ohio 43215. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
