Vera M. Getz, who had lived to nearly 100 died Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
She was born April 5, 1914, daughter of the late Richard and Mayme (Graber) Kestner.
Vera was a graduate of the class of 1932 Washington High School where she was the first lady class president. She studied piano under the great niece of composer Franz Liszt. She played piano during the 1930's for live radio with WHBC. Vera continued her career teaching piano to many area students. She played piano and organ at many area churches. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Massillon Woman's Club.
Vera was a loving mother and grandmother to her family and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law D. Richard and Vivian Getz of Massillon, grandchildren Andrew D. Getz of Beach City, Susie (Dwayne) Boss of Massillon, and Julie (John) Smith of Hartville, great grandchildren Taylor and Corey Boss, Collin and Allison Getz and Gracey, Raina and Mylena Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Dawson A. Getz who died 2012.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 1 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Massillon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Massillon Woman's Club, 210 - 4th St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646.
