Walter W. Kraft, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2014 with his family around him.

He was born January 16, 1927, in Massillon the son of the late William and Emma Kraft.

He was a 1946 graduate of Massillon High School and a life long resident.

Walt was a veteran of WWII serving with the Coast Guard.

He was a dedicated employee of the East Ohio Gas Company for 41 years.

Walt enjoyed traveling, winters in Florida, gardening, and most of all his family (as crazy as they are.) He was always a very upstanding, gentle, kind, generous, loving man who would go out of his way to do anything for anyone. He was a beloved family man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Walt is survived by wife of 62 years, Eleanor (Taylor) Kraft; children, Dennis (Deborah) Kraft, Douglas Kraft, Deborah (Jack) Marks, Dale (Laura) Kraft;  grandchildren, Jesse, Nathan, Angela, Tim, Jessica, Jack Jr., Alexis; step grandchildren, Valerie, Wendi, and Tracey; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Kraft.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 4, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heitger Funeral Service.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Massillon at 10AM with Rev. Raymond Paul celebrant.

Burial at Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton, Ohio with military honors.
