Walter C. Nist Jr., age 82, of Jackson Twp., died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Affinity Medical Center.

He was born in Massillon on April 14, 1931, the son of the late Walter and Edna (Geis) Nist.

Walter retired from Shady Hollow Country Club where he was golf course superintendent. He had later worked for Peoples Cartage and Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Walter is survived by daughters Linda (Terry) Steiner of Canton, Sandra (Larry) Nolen of Jackson Twp., and Audrea Kilgore of Navarre, grandchildren Larry Nolen Jr., Samantha Nolen, Candace (Seth) Williams, Dustin Kilgore and Adam Kilgore, great-grandchildren Amber Nolen and Sharon Williams and sister Lucille Newlin of Jackson Twp.

He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine (Radel) Nist who died in 1998 and his sisters Helen, Mary and Betty and brothers Donald and Carl.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel 5850 Wales Ave. N.W. with Rev. Calvin Hamblin officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 A.M. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
