Wayne Jennings Preisse, age 85, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Arbors of Stow.
Born in Buckhannon, WV, he came to Akron as a young boy. His business skills started early in his life as he spent years delivering papers as a paper boy. Spending his life as a committed father, provider and husband and was a master of agility. He adored the praise he received for free standing jumping a double bed as well as riding bicycles backwards. He loved his Buckeyes, Browns and Indians and was a 'stat master' before there was google. He coached baseball for little league in Manchester and received Coach Of The Year in 1964.
Wayne was a machinist by trade and had worked for Portage Machine and Kent Machine.
He is survived by his son Russell W. (Patty) Preisse of Green, daughters Susan Preisse (Craig Carruthers) of Snellville, GA and Cheryl (Jerry) Perge of Akron, brother Gene Lee Preisse of Copley, grandchildren Jennifer (Nolan) Combest Workman, John (Aven) Combest, Matthew Combest,
R. Brent (Stacy) Combest, Russell Preisse (fiance' Maria), Thomas (Jen) Preisse, Tyler Preisse, Rob (Jenn) Wagner and Chris Wagner, great-grandchildren; Nathan and Maddox Workman, Gage Wagner and Autumn Combest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Clara (Quick) Preisse, brother Jack Preisse, sister Winifred Preisse, wife Barbara (Chaffee) Preisse and the mother of his children Dottie Jean.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 5 to 7 P.M.
at Heitger Funeral Home Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave. N.W., Massillon, Ohio 44646.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 1:30 P.M.
at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
