Obituary

William Arthur Gerber, age 90 of Massillon, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Affinity Medical Center.

He was born August 27, 1921 in West Lebanon, Ohio, the son of the late Frederick and Annastasia (Herwick) Gerber.

William was a veteran serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII in Iceland.

He retired from Ekco Manufacturing where he was a shipping clerk for many years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Massillon American Legion Post 221. He was a long time muzzle loading enthusiast and a 50 year member of the Canal Fulton Ramrod Club, he enjoyed camping for many years. He was one of the original member of the Washington High School Swing Band, and was a lifelong Massillon Tiger Fan.

William is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gloria W. (Winchell) Gerber of Massillon, children, Kerry Gerber of Canton, , Cecelia Harig of Knoxville, TN, Rolanda (Chris) Rose of Hurricane Utah, Bryan (Lucinda) Gerber of North Canton, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Larry Gerber.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 9:30am to 10:30am.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, , Massillon at 10:30 AM.

Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
