IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Roger"
Shaffer
October 21, 1941 – June 8, 2025
William "Roger" Shaffer, 83, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025.
The son of the late William M. and Marion Shaffer, Roger was born on October 21, 1941 in Akron, Ohio.
He graduated from North High School in 1959 and received his degree in marketing from the University of Akron in 1963.
A man dedicated to his career, Roger completed 35 years with Goodyear Tire Corporate, becoming an expert in belts and hoses. His work took him from Ohio to Florida and Nebraska, of which he loved dearly. After a brief stint in retirement, he took his expertise to Applied Industrial for another 21 years.
Roger is remembered by his family as being one of a kind, and will be forever missed. He left a lasting impression on others with his wit, warmth, and especially humor. He loved spending time with his family, whether it was taking road trips, going to car shows or to antique shops. He was the past president of the Goodyear Car Club, current president of the Massillon Area Car Club and was always up for a drive - especially to the casino or for a Galley Boy or two at Swensons.
Roger leaves behind his wife and high school sweetheart of 63 years, Judi, and his cat Indy. He is also survived by his three daughters, Julie (Walt) Bolanz, Jan (Ted) Dahler, and Joy (Charlie) Myers. He was the proud Grampie to Dylan (Emily), Hayley, Jenna (Taylor), Evan (Julie), Payton (Nate), Chase and Connor.
The family wishes to thank his nurse Elizabeth, Dr. Mastracco, wound clinic nurses Leann and Judie, and the Jackson EMTs for the care they provided over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The 41 Club in Massillon on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:30 A.M., followed by a service at noon.
