William “Bill” J. Schwartz of Massillon passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born February 18, 1940, in Massillon, the son of the late Dardy and Rita (Rohr) Schwartz.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine (Bowers) Schwartz, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage and a lifetime of love and family.
He is survived by his children, Jacqueline (Samuel) Russell, Mary (Phil) Hykes, and Daniel (Regina) Schwartz; sisters, Rita Palaski and Marilyn Riese; brother, Joseph Schwartz; grandchildren, Tyler Wymer, Ashley (Michael) Rucci, Erika Hykes, Shelley (Jeff) Homan, Jacob Hykes, and Jonah Schwartz; and great-grandchildren, Siena, Tessa, Michael, and Mallory.
Bill retired early from Timken after 34 years of service and owned and operated Bill’s Air Conditioning and Refrigeration for many years. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
Above all, Bill was a devoted family man. His family was the center of his life, and some of his happiest times were spent with the people he loved gathered together. Bill and Elaine’s home was a place where family came together, especially for holidays, and those gatherings created countless memories that will be cherished for years to come. He took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them.
Bill will be remembered for the life he built, the family he loved so deeply, and the many years of memories they shared together. His presence will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 3 pm at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 1st St NE with Rev. Dale Smith officiating. Calling hours will be held an hour prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. His final resting place will be at Brookfield Cemetery.
