Aaron D. Gelm, age 43 of Jackson Township, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021. He was born on June 9, 1977, in Oscoda, Michigan, the son of the late Lawrence “Larry” Gelm, and the late Jayne (Evans) Johnson. He was employed by TimkenSteel.
His favorite thing in the world was his family, whom he loved dearly.
Aaron and his loving wife, Melissa (Smith), were married for 19 years. Together they have two incredible children, Alison and Ryan. Aaron grew up with one brother, Adam (Samantha) Au; niece Khloe, nephew Owen, and was very close with his cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. He is also survived by step-father, Robert (Mary) Au.
Aaron made the most of each day; he made people laugh with his sarcastic sense of humor and no-nonsense attitude. He was always willing to help friends and family with anything they needed without expecting anything in return. Aaron claimed he was not a “people person” but he could not make it down the street without a neighbor or old friend flagging him down to say hello.
The Gelm family will be celebrating Aaron’s life privately at this time and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, you consider making a donation in honor of Aaron to The Aultman Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
