Alfred F. Kerr

Alfred F. Kerr, age 91 of Massillon, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born April 12, 1931, in Canton, the son of the late Dr. Mark and Nellie (Tyler) Kerr.

Al was an Army veteran serving in Korea. 

Al retired from State of Ohio Highway Department and had worked for Eaton Steel and was once a barber.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – St. Barbara Campus, where he was an usher for 50 years. Al was also a member of the Moose Club. He loved to garden and coaching youth leagues for St. Barbara’s.

Al is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia (Wantz) Kerr; children, Lisa (John) Bishop, Theresa Meredith, Sean (Amanda) Kerr; grandchildren, Morgan (Joe) Rodriguez, Logan Bishop, Donald Meredith Jr., Lauren Meredith, Max Kerr, Caleb Kerr, and Daphne Kerr and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four siblings, Mary Rita O’Hara, Jane Kerr, Bernie Rothermel, Mark Kerr Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Divine Mercy Parish – St. Barbara Campus, 2813 Lincoln Way W at 10:30 am with The Very Rev. Canon Matthew (Maciej) Mankowski.

Calling hours will be held on  Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Heitger Funeral Home – Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, from 5 PM to 7PM.

Burial to follow the service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon.
