Alice E. (Wagner) Schmidt

Alice E. Schmidt, age 95 of Wooster, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 at West View Healthy Living.
Alice was born in Massillon on May 24, 1927 to the late William and Martha Wagner.  She graduated from Navarre High School in 1945.  She was married to Floyd Schmidt for 70 years.
She was a lifetime member of Holy Family Parish (St. Clements) and the church sacristan for 40 years.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Navarre V.F.W. and Holy Family Altar Rosary Society.  She volunteered at the Holy Family’s Parish bingo for over 50 years.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, quilting, embroidery, jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards.  She was affectionately known as "Big Al" to the kids in the Navarre neighborhood.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, Ralph and John and her sister, Sister Carmelita, Notre Dame order.  
She is survived by her children, Charlene Schmidt (Ken Cantwell) of Hawaii, Diane Simonson, Navarre, Patty (Dave) Hummel of Canton, David (Kathy) Schmidt of Canton, Brian (Linda) Schmidt of Wooster and Jerry Schmidt of Navarre, eight grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 2 to 4 PM at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, Massillon.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish, St. Clement's Campus Navarre on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 10:30 AM.  
Burial will follow at St. Clement's Cemetery, Navarre, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Parish St. Clement's Campus, 216 E. Wooster St., Navarre, Ohio 44662.
