Amanda L. Williamson
Amanda L. Williamson passed away on October 14, 2023.
She was born September 18, 1971 in Canton, Ohio to John O. and Marilynn (Doty) Williamson. She graduated from GlenOak High School and Miami University (OH) with a degree in English.
Amanda found fulfillment and the commitment of her life in helping families in need in her work with the Stark County Educational Service Center. As a Family Support Specialist in the Massillon City Schools, she expanded her position over the 8 years adding various food services, communication and partnering events, along with clothing and mentoring services. Wherever Amanda went for work she always brought two things with her: a helping hand and the ability to make people smile.
For the past two decades Amanda brought significant energy and time into the community at Church of the Lakes, helping launch the Canal Fulton Campus, leading youth groups, serving at the nursery care, and serving as a youth counselor. Much of her “free” time was spent on various retreats and outings through the ministry.
Anyone who knew Amanda or ‘Mandy’, knew someone with a tremendous heart, a love for nurturing children, and someone who looked to always help others first. Outside of these efforts, she enjoyed hiking and was a reader of many genres.
Amanda is survived by her sister Megan Evans (Scott) of Jacksonville, FL and their two children, Katie and Zach; and brother Ben Williamson (Loren) and their two children, Charles and Amelia of Fairfield, CT.
A funeral service will be held at Church of the Lakes United Methodist, 5944 Fulton Dr. on Saturday, October 21st at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Amanda to the Church of the Lakes general fund <https://churchofthelakes.breezechms.com/give/online> or at the United Way to either the AHEAD or CARE Team.
