Cletus N. Welch, age 85 of Jackson Township, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Chapel Hill Community.
He was born February 2, 1937, in Convoy the son of the late William and Ruth (Poling) Welch.
He grew up on a farm and graduated from Convoy High School. He received his bachelors degree from Bowling Green and Ph.D from Ohio State University.
He started his industrial professional life with the Chemical Division of PPG Industries, Inc. in 1966 at the Barberton Laboratories. He later moved with the laboratory to Monroeville, PA. After serving 35 years with PPG, he retired in 2001 as a Senior Research Scientist.
He was an active member of Church of the Lakes. Cletus enjoyed sports, reading, woodworking and traveling and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Cletus is survived by his wife of 62 years, Delores (Hockenberry) Welch; children, Kristine (Steven) Roberts, Steven Welch (Robin Fields); brother, Roger (Barbara) Welch; grandchildren, Lauren, Morgan, and Nathan Rittenhour.
He was preceded in death by sister, Joan Jackson and brother, Kermit Welch.
Private services were held by the family.
His final place of rest will be Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon.
