Colette Katherine (Hunt) Balow
age 77, died Saturday morning at the Cleveland Clinic in Akron surrounded by her
loving family.
Colette was born in Detroit, MI on June 12, 1942, the daughter of the late Thomas and
Katherine Hunt. She graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in Dearborn, MI and
worked as a legal secretary. She married Donald Balow on May 31,1969 and began
to raise their family of 4 children soon after. Don and Colette had just
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family earlier this year. Colette
was a regular attendee at St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton. She
enjoyed spending time with her family, travelling, and spent countless hours
working on family genealogy. She fulfilled her long time dream to visit Ireland
in 2013. Colette also had a love of arts and had attended weekly art sessions
with her friends. She was a brilliant artist with a range of abilities leaving
many pieces of art for her family to cherish. Don and Colette had lived in
Jackson Township for the last 32 years.
She is survived by her husband Donald Balow; sons, Chris and Jeff (Karen) Balow; daughters,
Julie (Mike) Pitz and Sara (Bryan) Gliba; brothers Bill (Sheryl) Hunt and Ken
(Sue) Hunt; and her grandchildren: Evan & Ryan Gliba, Katelyn Balow,
Madison, Matthew, Marcus & Michael Pitz.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave., N.W., Massillon, Ohio.
Burial will be held at a later date at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
