Dale O. Kettering, age 91, of Jackson Twp., passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born July 31, 1931 in Massillon, son of the late Owen H. Kettering and Grace (nee Burandt) (Kettering) Heinbuch. Dale graduated from Timken vocational High School where he was valedictorian of his class. He served in the Army as a radio operator in Germany during the Korean War. Dale was a mechanical engineer and retired from Diebold Inc. and the Hoover Company. He proudly held 7 U.S. Patents designing pneumatic tube systems and carriers for Diebold banking systems. He was a 53 year member of the Masonic Lodge of Canton #60. He enjoyed Saturday morning polkas, building model airplanes, golfing, going to Bristol Nascar races with his son, and spending time with his family. Dale is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Howard Johnson; daughter-in-law, Deborah Kettering; grandchildren, Kyle Johnson, Kristofer Johnson, Kristen Goff, and Kimberly Lines; great grandchild, Levi David Lines; sister-in-law, Linda Kettering; nephews, Dr. Todd Kettering D.O., and Greg Kettering. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Lewis) Kettering; son, David Dale Kettering; brother, Gene C. Kettering. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 11 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave. N.W. Calling hours will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. His final place of rest will be Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity. The family would like to extend special thank you to Dr. Steven Weaver and to the Aultman Home Care nurses for their invaluable caring support in recent years.
