Donald E. Aman, age 98 of Massillon, passed away on August 9, 2023 at Bethany Nursing Home surrounded by family.
He was born March 12, 1925 in Massillon, the son of the late Edward and Emmaline (Baer) Aman.
Don was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1943. Don was a Navy Veteran serving during WWII on the USS Farragut DD-348 earning nine battle stars for heroic actions.
He retired from LTV Massillon after 40 years of service and retired from Tuscarawas Township Garage. Don belonged to the Massillon YMCA where he had been an avid swimmer and was a lifelong member of American Legion Post #221. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing cards, and being with family.
Don is survived by daughter, Nancy Weller; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sue Aman; grandchildren, Miranda (Ty) Miller, Timothy (Kathryn) Aman, Sarah (Derek) Buck, and three great-grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Carol (Heimann) Aman; son, Dennis Aman; son-in-law, Donald Weller; sisters, Irene and Mildred; brothers, Ernest, Russell, and Ralph.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Heitger Funeral Home – Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, at 11 AM.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 10 AM to 11 AM.
Burial to follow the service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon with military honors.
