Donald R. Evans, age 92, of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021.
He was born October 27, 1928, in Massillon, the son of the late Henry and Elsie (Keller) Evans.
Prior to his enlisting in the U.S. Army, Don worked on the three Massillon Viaduct bridges as a carpenter/mason.
Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He received an honorary discharge after six years of service with his last rank as Chief Warrant Officer.
After graduating from Kent State University, he was a program engineer with Goodyear Aerospace. His final computer design project was the F-15 E aircraft trainer.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Don was a huge Massillon Tiger football fan and an avid reader.
Don loved his family and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wanda Lou (Telles) Evans, sons, Tom (Kim) Evans, Tim (Becky) Evans, grandchildren; Nicole (Mike) Lewis, Kaitie (Jon) Tatum, Gabe Evans, Tom (Anna) Evans, Mike (Kaitlyn) Evans, Donald Evans, Abby Evans, and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth Lehner.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave., N.W., Massillon, with Rev. Mark Kreemer officiating.
Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 A.M.
Burial to follow the service in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Crossroads Hospice.
