Dr. Robert Lee Bernstein DDS passed away peacefully on January 31, 2021 at the age of 87.
He is the son of the late Theodore (Ted) and Dorothy Bernstein. Survived by his wife, Ruth Anne Bernstein of 63 years, married December 19, 1957; his son Jeffrey K. Bernstein (Kathy Bernstein), son Bradley J. Bernstein (Todd Shipman), three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A graduate of Case Western Reserve University and Case Western Reserve Dental School, 1961. Member of the American Dental Society. Bob was a quiet giant in his life and community where he lived and practiced dentistry for 42 years.
His legacy represents his commitment to his community, his patients, his family and his faith. He was a steadfast member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and served its pastoral staff by caring for their dental needs along with many of its members. Born and raised in Massillon, he touched the lives of many with his compassionate care and commitment to excellence in dentistry, but also with his humor. With a joke, a funny tune or a homemade card he was able to soothe and amuse those he cared for with his unique humor. In his youth you might have caught a glimpse of him zipping around town in his Jaguar. He loved automobiles and spent 27 years enjoying sunsets on one of his many boats with his wife. Bob was a trained potter and ceramicist; he found peace working with his hands and expressing his appreciation for art. architecture, design, and all things mechanical.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 206 Cherry Rd NE at 10:30 am with Rev. Edward Gretchko officiating.
