John Allen Cecil “Jac”, age 74 of Massillon, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021.
He was born June 26, 1947, in Massillon the son of the late Edward Thomas and Margaret Ruth (Blackledge) Cecil.
Jac is survived by daughter, Lynnette (Cliff) Wilson; brother, Victor (Maria) Cecil; sister-in-law, Debbie (Todd) Leonard; grandchildren, Jessica Wilson (Colin Tabellion), Anthony Wilson (Tiffany Dingey), Samantha Wilson (Brandon Cooper), Clayton Wilson, and Savannah Wilson; great-granddaughter, Alice Wilson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Sue Cecil.
He served in the Army from 1969 to 1975 in the Viet Nam war as a Sergeant (SP5 E5). After the Army he worked at Republic Steel Company where he eventually retired from.
He truly loved his wife and dedicated his life to making Sandy happy and taking care of her. Along with building a happy marriage, home, and family. Sandy and Jac were married September 25, 1971.
He lived his life in Massillon and was a Massillon Tiger, Alumni of Washington High School class of 1966 and graduated from college with a bachelor's degree.
He is remembered as a humble and kind person, with the best attitude and extraordinary enthusiasm for life. He never let anything get him down. He could always see the bright side in any situation. His family remembers his loving and giving nature, always making sure the people around him are taken care of.
He enjoyed watching Ohio State, the Cincinnati Bengals, and loved watching the Massillon Tigers. He especially enjoyed visits with his brother and sister-in-law, Vic and Maria. They were his best friends and had a very close, supportive, and special relationship. He also enjoyed visiting with his neighbors often.
He enjoyed camping, bowling, and loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and dogs.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Kidron Community Center, 4434 Kidron Rd, Dalton, OH 44636 at 12pm. All are welcome and encouraged to come.
His final place of rest will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 10:15 AM with military honors.
