Lanny Dean Hawkins

Lanny Dean Hawkins, age 82 of North Canton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
He was born June 16, 1941, in Glenmont, Ohio, the son of the late John and Dorothy (Michael) Hawkins.  

Lanny was a graduate of Glenmont High School in Holmes County, Ohio and a graduate of Akron University.  

Lanny retired from Campbell Oil Company where he was a warehouse manager.  In his retired years, he worked for Firestone Dental Lab.  
He was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church where he served as a board member.  
Lanny enjoyed spending time with his family, grandkids, and at his property in Glenmont.  He enjoyed deer hunting and salmon fishing.  
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet (Alexander) Hawkins; children, Christopher (Robyn) Hawkins, Scott (Jane) Hawkins, DeAnna (Doug) Meilinger; grandchildren Dustin and Rene' Hardgrove, Bryce and Brock Hawkins, and Dean Meilinger; and his brother Alan (Paula) Hawkins and their son, Phillip.
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Fred and older brother, Danny.  
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 1 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - JACKSON CHAPEL. 
Pomen Service will begin at 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home.                                                                                      
Graveside service will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Glenmont, Ohio.   Following graveside services, the family will host a reception in his memory at The Ranch at his property in Glenmont.   
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. George Serbian Church, 4667 Applegrove St NW, North Canton, Ohio  44720.
