Martha Firm, of Jackson Township, passed away on April 22, 2022 at St. Luke’s Home For The Aging. She was 89. Martha was born and raised in Canton, the youngest of three children, to Wilbur and Erma Bischoff. After graduation from Lincoln High School and Business School, she worked as a secretary for the Pennsylvania Railroad and First Lutheran Church. Martha eventually retired from her position as executive secretary with the Diebold Company. Martha married the love of her life, Jim Firm, soon after he returned from his service in the Army. They started a family, staying in Canton, until they found a piece of land and built a home in Jackson Township in 1968. Martha loved to travel and especially enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, watching cooking shows on TV and singing in the church choir. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Jim, brother Jim Bischoff, sister Barbara Grossman and grandson Aaron Firm. She is survived by sons Dale (Rachel) Firm and Dean Firm; grandchildren Erik (Hilary) Firm, Kaitlin Firm and Kara (Bob) Wolf; great-granddaughters Alice & Camilla Wolf and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of the staff in the memory care unit at St. Lukes for their many years of kindness and care they provided to Martha. We encourage a donation to St. Lukes Home For the Aging or St. Jacobs Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers. The funeral service will be held at 11am on April 30, 2022 at St. Jacobs Lutheran Church in Massillon. Visitation will begin at 10am
