Michael Everett Obituary

Michael J. Everett (73) of Brewster, Ohio passed away on December 14th from complications related to Covid-19.   Michael (Mike) was born in Massillon, Ohio to Robert and Eleanor (Kramer) Everett.   He attended St. Mary’s School in Massillon and graduated from Canton Central Catholic High School, class of 1965.  He was a graduate of Stark State College of Technology with a degree in accounting (1987).  Mike was employed by the N&S Railroad, The St. Michael’s Parish of Canton, and Stark County DD. After retiring from both St. Michael’s and Stark DD he drove shuttles for Pan Cab and the Woodwright Company.  He was also an accomplished house painter.  He painted many local homes in Stark County and the surrounding area.  He gained satisfaction in his second job and used it to teach both of his sons the value of hard work, though his dream of Everett and Sons Painting, never came to fruition.  Mike was a founding member and 1st President of the Brewster Sugarcreek Township Historical Society.  He was especially proud of his role in helping acquire and preserve the Wandle House through the Historical society.  Mike served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.                                                                                                                       He enjoyed many hobbies throughout the years, including woodworking and his active mind was always in search of interesting new activities.
Mike was preceded in death, by his parents, his sister, and four brothers.   They were Barbara McNamara (Jack) of Canton, Robert Everett (Eva) of Canton, Lawrence “Larry“ Everett of Massillon, Richard Lee Everett (  newborn brother) and recently lost  his brother Joseph Everett( Susan) of Jackson Twp.   He is survived by his wife and best friend of 49 years Ellen L. Everett (Youngman) also of Brewster and his sons David Everett (Julie) of Canton and William “Bill” Everett (Angie)  of Dublin, Ohio.  Mike was a beloved Grandpa to Christian Everett of Canton, Brady Everett of Dublin, Ohio and Stephen Fellingham of Atlanta Georgia. He was looking forward to growing a bond with his new granddaughters Madeline, Olivia, and Lucy Geiser all of Jackson Twp.   He also was Uncle Mike to his many nieces and nephews.  His joy of life and love of family touched all those lucky enough to know him.  His family takes solace in the memories of Mike created with the time he gave to those he loved.  He was a source of laughter and fun but was always ready with wise advice or a listening ear.
Mike will be interred privately at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with plans for a future memorial service once the current health crisis has passed.  Arrangements are being made through Heitger Funeral Home in Massillon.   In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Brewster Sugarcreek Township Historical Society, The St. Mary’s Parish of Massillon, or the Haven of Rest Ministries of Akron, Ohio.
