Rebecca A. Scarpino (nee Dominguez), also known as “Becky” to many, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 2023.
Becky was 91 years of age, born in Beaver Falls, PA on April 27, 1932, to the late Willehado and Dolores Dominguez. She was preceded in death by husband, Rudolph P. Scarpino and her siblings Sr. Ann Raquel, H.M., Sr. Mary Claret, H.M., Victor, Louis, Albert, and Irene Dominguez.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ingrid (Kenneth) Miller of Canton, her sister in law, Pat Dominguez; nieces and nephews, Vickie Kappes and William Dominguez both of Massillon, Stephanie Keckeisen, Cookie (Sjaak) Dominguez-Blaauw, Pam (Lance) Bush, Delores Dominguez, Scott (Wendy) Dominguez; a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews and a cousin.
Becky was a Massillon resident for the majority of her life and spent the past 1 1/2 years living at Aviva Hills in Canton. She was a proud 1950 graduate of Washington High School, Massillon, Ohio. The caption in her yearbook read "A gal well liked by all of us". This was a sentiment that was true for all her life. She worked many years in the banking industry in Massillon and in Florida.
Becky was a longtime member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Massillon and a regular at the Saturday 4 p.m. Mass for many years. One of Becky's favorite hobbies was cooking, especially baking. She blessed her church for many years by preparing food and serving at funeral luncheons hosted at St Joseph's. She also learned to prepare many specialties to celebrate the Italian heritage of her husband Rudy. She was a great fan of hot dogs and French fries with mustard. For a number of years, Becky was a member of the Massillon Senior Center, the Babe Stern Walker's Club, the Massillon Women's Club and AARP - Canton chapter.
Becky was known as the family storyteller. She delighted in chronicling the lives of her family members in scrapbooks and verbally sharing stories about the lives of family members with her nieces and nephews. She treasured times spent on trips to Disney World and Michigan with her siblings, to Italy with her husband and to Las Vegas with family. She enjoyed many tea parties over the years with Vickie, Ingrid, Jane and Marlena. She also found pleasure in collecting Disney memorabilia; all things, Elmo; and trolls (wishniks).
The family greatly appreciates and thanks the staff at Aviva Hills, her friend Alma Hershberger and her hospice team for the loving care that was shown to Becky. You made her days brighter with your cheerful smiles, kind words and gentle touch.
