Richard D. Paul, Sr.

Richard D. Paul, Sr.  age 96, of Canton, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023.
He was born April 2, 1927, in Massillon the son of the late Robert and Gladys (Jones) Paul. 
Richard was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army.  
Richard owned and operated Dumont's Sporting Goods in Canton.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he sang in the choir and was an usher.  He coached St. Mary 's football from 1948 -1964. He was a member of K of C Council #554 and was an avid baseball fan who enjoyed the Detroit Tigers.   He was a member of Amateur Softball Fast Pitch Hall of Fame.    
Richard is survived by daughter and her husband, Therese Paul and Frank George; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Sally Paul and Rick and Terri Paul; son, Michael Paul;  brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Paul; and grandchildren, Christopher Miller and Michaela Miller.   
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara J. (Clawson) Paul who died in 1999, brothers, Gene Paul and Jack Paul.  
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Mary's Church in Massillon at 10:00 A.M.  Friends may call at the church prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M.
His final place of rest will be at Calvary Cemetery.  
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to J. Babe Stearn Community Center, 2628 - 13th Street S.W., Canton, Ohio.
