Rodney "Hot Rod" Bowman, age 67, of Jackson Twp, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 surrounded by his family.
He was born May 10, 1956, in Canton, the son of the late George and Ruth (Grimes) Bowman.
He was a 1974 graduate of Timken High School where he found his passion in auto body.
Rodney was a successful businessman who owned and operated Union Auto Sales in Massillon.
He was a member of the Eagles, an avid bowler, enjoyed his motorcycles, camping with his family in their RV, "Conan", and was the life of the party. He spent a majority of his life in Florida. He loved deep sea fishing and eating fresh seafood. Rod loved to play cards and watch mob movies. His blue eyes and big loud laugh would light up the room. His family meant everything to him. He was a friend and like a second father to many. Rod will always be remembered and never forgotten by anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He is a true legend.
Rodney is survived by daughters, Kristin Bowman and Shanea (James) Craven; son, Clayton Bowman; brother, Jeffrey Bowman; grandchildren, Jayden, Blaire and Ruby, who adored their "Papa".
He was preceded in death by wife of 45 years, Wanda (Coleman) Bowman.
