Stephen Michael Bishop

Stephen Michael Bishop, age 69, of Canton, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Altercare of Nobles Pond, following a brief illness.
He was born August 4, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of  the late Robert F. and Wanda (Smith) Bishop.  
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era.  
Stephen was a graduate of Penn State University.  
He was a metallurgical engineer for many years at General Electric and retired from the Timken Company.   
He was a member of Full Devotion FBC and enjoyed photography, gardening, cooking, and flight simulators as hobbies.  
Stephen is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rebecca  (Tucker) Bishop; daughter and son-in-law, Lena and Jason Kompara; grandchildren, Charlotte, Anders, Grahm, and Olivia Kompara; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Toni Bishop; and extended family.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jim Bishop.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from  5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023 at 11 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel with Pastor Kevin Thomas officiating.  
Burial to follow the service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon.
