Obituary

William J. Koch February 14, 1944-August 30, 2022
Bill Koch passed away on August 30 at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.  Bill grew up in Cleveland and graduated from John Adams High School.  He went on to graduate from Ohio University where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.  Bill then earned his law degree from the University of Akron.
Bill was married to his wife, Barbara “Luann”, for 57 years.  They spent most of those years living at Willowdale Lake in Jackson Township.  Bill’s professional career was in the insurance services industry at The Schauer Group in Canton, Ohio.
His passions were hunting, fishing, golf and reading.  He had a gift for organization and coordinated many fishing and hunting trips to Canada and Lake Erie.  Bill was a devoted grandfather and father.  He was incredibly proud of his son Matthew, daughter-in-law DeAnna, his grandchildren 2nd Lt Tanner Koch of the United States Space Force, Nash Koch and Natalie Koch.
Bill’s civic activities including serving as President of the Canton Jaycees, Vice-President of Willowdale Lake Club and Chairman and founding member of the Stark County Ducks Unlimited Chapter.  He was also recognized as one of the Five Outstanding Young Men in Ohio in 1978.
Bill is survived by his wife Luann, son Matthew (DeAnna), grandchildren Tanner, Nash, and Natalie and his brother Ron (Pat).
Per Bill’s request, there will not be a funeral service.  A small celebration of life will be held for immediate family and close friends.  The family wishes to recognize the Schauer Family for their support throughout Bill’s career as well as the incredibly compassionate and competent care given by The Mercy Hospital Intensive Care Unit.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stark County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Please leave condolences here on our tribute page.
