James Everett Hamlin Jr.

James E. Hamlin, Jr. age 92 of  Massillon passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016.

He was born August 27, 1923 in East Greenville, son of the late James Sr. and Lila (Gunsaullus) Hamlin.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during WWII.

He retired from LTV (Republic Steel), in 1984 where he was a crane operator for over 38 years. He was a member of Steel Workers Union Local #1124 and enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting, fishing and traveling.

Jim is survived by his son James A. (Pam) Hamlin of Massillon, daughter Judith Golden of Massillon, son Edward C. Hamlin of New Philadelphia, sister Betty Holding of Florida and Ruth (Art) Schumacher of Massillon, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Doris J. (Kozlevcar) Hamlin,  his son Larry S. Hamlin, two brothers and three sisters. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel with Rev. Raymond Paul officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 at the funeral home prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 330 - 4th St. S.E., Massillon, Ohio  44646.
