Hundreds of animals have greeted Dr. Parshall at the Rainbow Bridge, thanking him for their "sight",
while he jeopardized his own vision. A very special human being.

barb and the kids...my sincerest condolences on the loss of chuck. We have not spoken in a couple of years but that did not mean that he was forgotten. I first met chuck when he came to Johns Hopkins and the AFIP and we started a journal club and then all the midwest meetings and the correspondence throughtout the years and on and on..needless to say, he will be missed...love to your all....seth

Dr . Parshall was a very humble veterinarian. He treated my hound when I was a kid. It was during in climate weather like what we are having now and my hound got rock salt in her eye. Dr. Parshall was able to treat my hound and she did not lose her eye. I am sure my hound is welcoming him in heaven.

I am very sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. I always enjoyed his company at Davis because he was such a friendly guy. I was impressed to hear that he had gone into Veterinary Ophthalmology and became a leader in his field. I'm sure that he will be sincerely missed by all who knew him. Sincerely, Gene Lynch

One of the many things that successful people have in common is the ability to inspire others. I am a by-product of Dr. Parshall's inspiration. I first met Chuck as a young high school student while shadowing a northeast ohio equine veterinarian. Dr. Parshall was consulted to help save the horses eye from the devastation of corneal infection. I was immediately impressed. I was offered the privilege of at first shadowing and observing, then working for and learning from Chuck. His dedication to continued learning and clinical observations was unsurpassed. I was awed and amazed by the photographic and clinical slide collections that Chuck had accumulated over the years as well as his microsurgical instrumentation and electrodiagnostic retinal testing equipment that he developed. I was fortunate to witness him treat a menagerie of patients including a baby giraffe, numerous wildlife species, various birds and horses, as well as thousands of dogs and cats from not only Northeastern Ohio, but from much of the Midwest. Chuck’s patients when teaching and his knowledge that he shared were only surpassed by his and Barb’s hospitality and support.

Dr. Parshall was a keystone in his profession. He was a founding father and charter member of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. His dedication and service to this organization from the beginning and is lifelong promotion of his profession is to be commended. He was also actively involved in developing and supporting the Midwestern Veterinary Ophthalmology Society and enjoyed the sharing of continuing education information between colleagues and students. Chuck’s woodworking awards are still copied and utilized today during these yearly meetings.

Dr. Parshall’s reputation, support, and guidance were instrumental in my career path choices and achievements. I would not be where I am today without Chuck’s help, but I am only one of many other of my colleagues that have benefited from him directly and indirectly in the promotion of our profession and our professional college specialty.

I am saddened today but am thankful for the years of support and inspiration and feel fortunate to have been able to cross paths.

Barb, thank you for sharing him with us all. My thoughts and prayers from my family to yours.

Fondly,

Dr. Jeffrey Bowersox, DVM
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists

Dear Barb and family,
I am so sorry for your lost. I spent many hours with Charlie as he cared for my beloved Persian cat, Chelsea. I will never forget the kindness you both showed us over the years. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am currently in FL for the winter so will be unable to attend the service but will be thinking of you all..
Fondly, Judy Thomas

I met Dr. Parshall when I was a chief resident in Obstetrics and gynecology at City Hospital. Mrs. Parshall was in labor and her doctor’s phone lines were down—there was a big storm. So I delivered a son for them. We had a long convo about his practice and he subsequently saw my mother’s blind poodle. He was a kind and generous gentleman. I also saw Mrs. Parshall for years until I retired. She would update me on the doctor. I am very sorry for the family’s loss.

Dear Barb & family,
Chuck will always be our dear friend. He sold me our building as you know that has helped us help others here in Richfield for 31 years. He told me how proud he was for us to represent our town well.
We know that Chuck was used for us to find our spot here. It was always great to see and talk to him, to wave at each other as good neighbors. May God comfort you all right now and always as God always keeps his promises. May Chuck's sweet memories sustain you all as well. I could not have had a better landlord and could not of bought our building from a better man! All our love and support.
